UGC -SVU Center

To create scientific awareness about the potential of the radar facility for advanced research in middle atmospherics and to attract bright and young researchers to make use of the Radar Facility, UGC-SVU center for MST Radar application was established in the Department of Physics, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. The center serves as a common platform for the University system in India for the exchange of scientific knowledge and the center is accessible to scientists and researchers from Indian Universities in the area of atmospheric sciences especially with reference to MST Radar related studies. The center has been extending assistance to the user scientists in formulating the experiments. Journals and reprints are made available to the faculty members and research scholars of several Universities to carry out experiments at National Atmospheric Research Laboratory. Necessary facilities such as off-line data processing, literature support, assistance to develop necessary algorithms for data processing, travel support, accommodation etc., are also provided to the visiting faculty members and research scholars. In collaboration with National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, the UGC-SVU center conducts winter schools, user scientists’ workshops, etc. Faculty members and research scholars from several Universities have been making use of the facilities of the UGC-SVU center to carry out research at National Atmospheric Research Laboratory.
